Welcome to the New & Related Services BLOG!

I’m Chris Droessler, the School-to-Career Coordinator for one of the largest and fastest growing school systems in the world (well, at least in the USA). I coordinate the work of the Career Development Coordinators that we are fortunate to have in each of our middle and high schools. I also have a bunch of wonderful Career Academy Coordinators that I look after as well. Tech Prep, work-based learning, connections to the business community, and postsecondary institutions are all part of my job.

We have an impressive relationship with the local business community, but we can always get better. I look forward to sharing some of our accomplishments so you can try them out as well, and I’ll post some of our struggles so you can avoid them if at all possible.

I’ve held lots of different jobs in my lifetime, which seems to make me well suited for my current position that I’ve held now for five years. I’ve also attended four colleges with half that many degrees, so I know a little something about postsecondary education, and am hopefully steering our students in a faster route through college than I did myself. (Unless of course, your aim is to become a professional student like I thought I wanted to be!!)

The world is changing so fast that we have to change the way that we’re educating our students. It’s our little school-to-career connection that brings reality to the classroom and truly prepares our world’s future leaders for a successful career and life. We are preparing our kids for jobs that have not been invented, and that’s a little bit scary.
